Many people other than children and parents read children's / YA books. Most people I know re-read their favorite books from childhood. YA books in particular seem to be having large cross-generational impact right now.
If you were reading reviews of children's literature -- collapsing children's and YA literature for the purposes of the question, though you need not do so in your answer -- what would be important to you in the review? What information would you be looking for? What would interest / disinterest you in the book?
You may answer for your actual real-life experience or for yourself as idealized parental figure.
